The 24-Hour Cancer Clinic, open seven days per week, is an alternative available for cancer patients being treated by physicians within the Froedtert & MCW Cancer Network.

Clinic for Cancer Patients’ Unexpected Medical Issues

Cancer patients can face unexpected medical challenges at night or on weekends for a variety of issues such as:

  • Bleeding
  • Cold or flu-like symptoms
  • Dehydration
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Home infusion pump concerns
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Pain control
  • Rash

When these acute issues occur, they need attention right away, and Froedtert & MCW patients have a place to go.

The 24-Hour Cancer Clinic, open 24/7, is an alternative available for cancer patients being treated by physicians within the Froedtert & MCW Cancer Network. It provides high-level supportive care services delivered by oncology providers who are specially trained in the intricacies of cancer and its treatment-related complications.

How to Access the 24-Hour Cancer Clinic

Unlike the Emergency Department or Urgent Care, patients cannot arrive at the 24-Hour Cancer Clinic without an appointment. They must first contact their physician for guidance on where to seek care that is most appropriate to their current health concern.

In some cases, patients with more serious conditions will need care in collaboration with the Emergency Department, so patients should always contact their cancer provider or on-call physician for direction. As always, call 911 for life-threatening issues such as chest pain, stroke symptoms or serious injuries.

If you need immediate care for a cancer-related medical challenge:

  • 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday: Contact your cancer care provider.
  • After 4:30 p.m., weekends or holidays: Call 414-805-6700 and ask that the on-call physician be paged.
